IT Department

RHUH uses Hospital Management Information System HMIS integrated package as well as PACS/RIS software.

HMIS is an integrated hospital management system that supports the entire hospital operations and all departments, medical and non-medical. The system is divided into front-office system and back-office systems whereby each system has a set of integrated modules. The front-office system modules include the main modules and the clinical modules.
The main HMIS modules are: Patient Master Index, Admission Discharge and Transfer, Outpatient and Appointment Management, Order Management & Processing, Pharmacy Management, Laboratory Management, Laboratory Instruments Interface, Radiology Management, Radiology PACS Interface, Nursing Management, Blood Bank Management, Medical Records, Medical Record Management, Sheet Design, Report Generator, Report Viewer, and Inquiry Builder.

The clinical modules allow each medical department to access the Medical patient record where the entire medical history of the patient can be reviewed. Patient cases can be thoroughly traced and analyzed by each specialized medical division. RHUH uses the following clinical modules which act as a direct point of access to the system: Allergy, Cardiology, Chest, Dermatology, Endocrine, Gastroenterology, General Practitioner, General Surgery, Hematology, Immunity, Metabolic, Neurology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Pathology, Pediatrics, Physical Therapy, Primary Care Clinics, and Urology.

PACS/RIS is a system used to automate the workflow of the Radiology department. This is done by integrating RIS (or Radiology Information System) and PACS (Picture Archiving Communication System) data seamlessly into a user based solution for the radiologist and technologist. The Radiology Information System automates the radiology function by providing a single access to patient information and radiology test results. It provides the flexibility in bringing the productivity benefits of paperless workflow to this division. PACS provides the ability to view radiology images directly on the screen eliminating the need for film images. The radiologist or the doctor can view the images in 3 dimensions and can use special features to more thoroughly analyze the images. PACS improves the speed and consistency of image communication within the radiology department and throughout the hospital through the ability to access and send the results electronically to the desired department or doctor. The Centricity RIS/PACS that is implemented at RHUH integrates both technologies together with HMIS to provide a synchronized database that unifies patient information results

Anesthesia

Anesthesia, literally "loss of feeling" is a process of blocking painful perceptions and sometimes awareness, allowing patients to undergo surgery and other procedures without the distress, discomfort and pain they would otherwise experience.

It is induced artificially by medications that may be injected or inhaled for the period of a surgical procedure, and consists of:
  • General Anesthesia (patient is put to sleep and rendered unconscious).
  • Local Anesthesia, where a specific body part is made numb by local injections.
  • Regional Anesthesia (including Spinal, Epidural, and Peripheral nerve blocks), That numbs the nerves conducting sensation to a well defined and circumscribed body area.
  • Monitored Anesthesia care.
Mission

The mission of the Department of anesthesiology at RHUH is to practice excellence in the clinical care of all those we serve.
